Kuja Dosha, alternately known as the Mangal Dosha, is astrologically feared by one and all. Kuja is the Red Planet Mars, the most malefic planet in the Parasara system of astrology. In natural malefic intensity, Mars is followed by Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and Sun. But unfortunately , people fear only Kuja Dosha, caring less for the malefic nature of other planets. The Kuja Dosha, as spread and propogated by astrologers and the general public as well throughout the country, carries an unfounded myth that a boy having Kuja Dosha must marry a life partner having Kuja Dosha. The myth talks about the same rule in case of a girl having a Kuja Dosha. The myth talks about the death of the life partner if the rule is not followed strictly. I say that this is all hoax.

It is true that Mars causes Kuja Dosha when placed in houses 2,4,7,8 and 12. These houses are counted from Lagna , Janma Rasi and natal Venus as well. But the fact that other natural malefic planets Saturn, Rahu , Ketu and Sun also cause Dosha when placed in these houses is conveniently forgotten by astrologers who propagated the myth of Kuja Dosha. These natural malefic planets too result in some Dosha in these houses, albiet on a lesser scale. The Dosha of Kuja carries more unwanted points but other malefic planets too carry some malefic points , popularly known as the negaive points. It is therefore quite clear that compatibility of a marrying couple should be seen in totality of the negagive points generated by them in their natal charts , and not just by the concept of Kuja Dosha.
